印度电影“流浪者” is an early 1950s movie (made in 1951), not in 80s. It's called as Awaara(1951) in Indian or English. It was nominated the Grand Prize of the Festival during the 1953 Cannes Film Festival.

I had experience of talking to many Indians, both in US and in India, in person and on the phone. Just like we Chinese, there are Indians whose English is easy to understand and others hard. My American co-workers agree with me. Normally, Indians speak with less gramatic errors, which could be the benefit of years of colonial education. One of my coping strategy is to ask those hard to understand to slow down. Of course I present this request by pointing to my own shortcoming of not being a native English speaker! :-)
I have to agree with you. But, if they have been here for some years, believe or not, their English could be more Americanized too.
But, the personalty, it needs more than some years to be Americanized.

我有时怀疑他们的英语是真好还是假好。也许是他们比较自信吧,想说就说了。
