Computer Jobs Are like Life on Treadmills...

Passion to life is like wings to the airplanes. Only when the arms of passion open up, the flight of life take off.

To make a living in the computer industry is like living on a non-stop treadmill.  Constant changes does not allow much breathing time.  I start to think about my future and want to be prepared for an easier golden age.  US is a cruel place to be for any job seeker after the age of 50.  Lately, sitting in interviews for  a low paying computer build specialist job, I can't help  but feeling sad for the three job seekers who were all over 50's.  They each had a reasonably successful career at their earlier ages in telephony and computer industry.  But now at the age of wisdom, they were competing against each other for such a low paying job.  I turned to myself -- it's time to reinvent yourself while you can and find a career path that accumulates experiences, not just past memories.

So now, shall I be a teacher, a psychiatrist, speech therapist, mediator or acupuncturist...  It's a hard decision.  There is no such thing is a guaranteed correct answer; and there is little one can afford to lose, not when you have a house to pay for and a kid to raise...  I think God will steer me to the right direction, even when nothing is certain at first.  But no steering can be done if the boat is not even moving.  So here it is, my New Year resolution is to start actions little by little, and find my direction and hop on it in 2010.  Every week, I shall do at least one thing to move the boat.
