这首歌是应1957（58？）莫斯科世界青年大会而作。在当时的国际形势下，这确是一次全世界青年的盛会，充满理想激情。当时中苏正处蜜月期，中国很多大学都派了代表去。还有一些留苏学生，出席了大会。我呢，自懂事以后，就有机会接触到他们中的一些，据他们讲，这首歌在大会期间，主要是作为圆舞曲出现。
在中国文革前，几乎每所大学，这样的人都有1，2位。当然，现在，他们的年龄都在72，73以上。
