Tonight I saw a movie on my Ipad called Into The Wild. A very touching, sad story. The story was based on a real young man called Christopher. He was born in 1968 and died along in Alaska in a solo adventure trip in May 1992.

The movie reminded me another movie based on a real story as well The 129 Days. Also a young man, a professional mountain climber was trapped in a deep cave in a solo adventure trip, one of his arms was stuck between the huge rocks, eventually he cut off his own arms and was saved. He had a happy ending. However, our young adventurer, nature lover Christopher was not that lucky, he died by mistakenly eating the poison plant and starving. Two weeks later, his body was found in a abandoned bus by the moose hunters.

He was raised in a typical middle class family in USA, although when he was young, his parents went through difficult time in their relationship and almost seperated but eventually they stayed together, and raised Chris and his younger sister well. His parents love their children and gave them good education. When he graduated from college, they wanted to give him a new car as a gift and was expecting him to find a good job, have a good life just like other young adults.

However, a regular good life wasn't apprealing to Christopher at all. The nature was calling him,he loved nature and adventure, and loved enjoying the nature alone. He felt he can only find the peace and happiness in the simple beauty,in the arm of nature mother.

He did many solo adventures in the wild,in the mountains before he went to Alaska,he met many wonderful people and bacame friends with them during those trips but they couldn't stop him going again and again to the wild by himself. He gave up all his money, his assets and belongings, even his ID,his family, he became a person with no ID, no family, and totally pennyless,he even changed his name, he owned nothing but he owned all the freedom in the nature,he wrote,I enjoy my freedom,I enjoy my pennyless life and the simple beauty in the nature, only be in there, I can find joy and peace and happiness.

However, the last adventure into the deep of Alaska costed his precious life. He ended up stuck in a abandoned bus and starved, with all the food running out,he wanted to go back but a flooding river blocked his way back home. He had no choice to seek the wind plants to survive but mistakenly took the poison one and slowly he died. At the end of his life, he carved his story on a wood panel. The last line he carved was-true happiness is only real when shared.

True Happiness is only real when shared. He costed his young, precious life to realize it but it was too late for him. People he met,his friends, his family will remember his story, and yes, True happiness is only real when shared. It is so so true. Thank you, Christopher, you used your life to teach us this.
