I could only imagine what went through his head
when an employee chose to jump from the 12th floor
of a building at Amazon HQ on Nov 29 (this and this).
As the story unfolded, I learnt, like me, he was a
Chinese programmer and was put on a "Performance
Improvement Plan" before the jump. As a fellow recent
PIP survivor, I felt I had to say something to him.
While chasing the material and the social, if you haven't,
give some time to your spiritual life. If you don't know,
philosophy is real and vital. As you are already in the
U.S., if you haven't, expand your mind by learning about
different cultures and ways of life.
You had courage and you survived the fall (Thank
God). I hope what did not kill you made you stronger.
