Atelier Romy launches first collaboration with Nadia Fairfax
There was more than just one celebration happening today at Double Bay’s Pam Pam store. The headliner was Atelier Romy’s first collaboration with Nadia Fairfax, a close friend of the jewellery brand’s co-founder Hermione Underwood - the two had met almost a decade ago when both were working in fashion and PR in Sydney. The second celebration was Atelier Romy’s first entry into a retail store - they will be now stocked by Pam Pam, after having only an e-commerce portal.
“I loved her energy and go-getter attitude,” remembers Underwood of the first meeting with Fairfax. “She is capable of being both professional and having almost too much fun - so she is the perfect travel companion, travelling the world for work from Puglia to Paris and New York in between.” Adds Fairfax: “Our shared love has most certainly been travel - we love meeting all over the world and visiting fabulous little hotels.”
Reunited, the two friends hosted a breakfast in Pam Pam with their friends and family involved, with both Fairfax and Underwood’s mothers in attendance and calling upon old favourite Indigo Double Bay to cater. Following on the travel theme, the earrings represent both of the girls’ on-the-go attitude. “My jewellery style is typically rather bold, which I think makes for a great partnership with Atelier Romy as most of their pieces are fine and understated… the earrings are a perfect fusion of dainty and daring, a blend of both our styles. And the black resin makes a graceful pair of earrings feel a little bit more almighty,” said Fairfax. “I wanted to create a piece that felt strong, that would make any woman feel tenacious, capable and resilient - all the things I hope to feel when I get up and take on the day.”
Fairfax worked closely with co-founder Sabine Roemer, a jeweller and master goldsmith. “It was very easy to work with Nadia. We wanted to showcase both our Atelier Romy signature style with Nadia’s own personal style and we had a lot of input from her, from what she loves and what she doesn’t, from colour combinations to size,” says Roemer from London where she is based with her family. “The piece, style and final campaign imagery are even more beautiful than I imagined.”
