Grappling Session No. 8

All through last week, my body was on fire from training.
The muscles felt burning until Thursday night. I joked that
I really loved my day job these days as the main work was to
recover from sparring.

Energy level went up this morning after Friday's rest and
adding back carbs to my diet. This latter change was from
listening to Firas Zahabi from TriStar gym. I'll stop
excluding food groups and try to comply better with the
Gracie Diet from now on.

As usual, we went through some drills and I paid attention
to squeezing my thighs doing the armbar-triangle from guard.
This felt good and I should keep developing the adductor
muscles. I read that sitting on the floor with legs straighten
out and spread wide, which is one of my sitting positions at
work, stretches these muscles.

Bluebelt O explained one detail of the butterfly sweep to
me. I needed to think of curling my own body in instead of
lifting the guy up. After raising him, I needed to extend his
torso when sitting up and letting him down before the sweep.
We also went through the details in bridging sweep in
half-guard vs butterfly sweep. All these made good sense.

In sparring, I still sucked at passing half-guard. I just
didn't know what to do. I should do some homework.

It was equally frustrating when I was at the bottom J easily
passed my guard and leaned on me. I must have missed my
chances at certain points as, once his weight was on, my
bridge-and-shrimp didn't work. Even whitebelt S, a girl 30
lbs lighter, could pass my half-guard!

I hurt my right wrist when rolling with B. It was not very
bad but added on top of the injury I had already. The next
morning I could barely do yoga. It will take a while to heal.

I felt good about learning and my energy and bad about the
injury and my lack of progress in half-guard.

Thank you, 暖冬, for reading and your comments.
Actually I sit on the floor most of the time and my co-workers are used to that by now ;-)
The injury may teach more than it hurts.

I wish I could sit like that too:)) Unfortunately. Maybe sometimes I can, resting my legs under the desk without anyone being around.
Protect yourself well and keep the injury to the minimum.
