Why does the South China Sea fuel US-China tension?
The U.S.A. is using its military power and financial power to run the world. The US has had two decades of double deficit: financial deficit and trade deficit. No country can sustain a double deficit for such a long time.
The US has a trade deficit in Europe before so there was Eurodollar accumulated in Europe. Then the US waged the Kosovo War to drive the EuroDollar into the NASDAQ market. When the Dot Com bubble burst, all the EuroDollars invested in the US vanished, and the investment from Europe in the US made the US the King of the Dot Com economy.
The US has a trade deficit with the Middle East so that there was Petrodollar accumulated in the Middle East. Then the US waged war on Iraq, its ally in the Iraq-Iran War, such that all the PretroDollar flowed back to the US and makes the American economy grow.
In the last two decades, the world economy is built on Made-In-China-Consumed-in-America, so the US has a huge trade deficit and China has a huge foreign currency reserve. The tension at the South China Sea, the Hong Kong protest, or India-China confrontation, the tension in Korean Peninsula, and disputes between China and its neighbors are all operations of US geopolitics. The goal is to drive the capital in China into the US.
The situation is very similar to the Opium War. For a long time, China had a trade surplus with Britain, as China exported silks, porcelain, and tea continually such that the silver in the world accumulated in China. Britain at that time was just like the US today, they had financial problems and needed to get silver from China. As a result, they wage the Opium War, forcing China to allow the import of opium. Soon the opium trade drained the silver from China. What the US is doing by sending carriers into the South China Sea is exactly the same as the Opium Wars. It is the notorious Gunboat diplomacy of imperialism.
Freedom and democracy cannot build on lies. Just as the wars in the names of democracy and human rights in the Middle East created neither democracy nor human rights but the refugee crisis. Lies cannot create democracy. On the contrary, lies in international politics destroy democracy aboard and at home.
