读报:CB West recognizes seniors

I read the article: “ CB West recognizes seniors.”, written by Mary Jane Sounder, on Bucks County Herald July 4, 2024. Barbara gave me the newspaper.

1) Central Bucks West recently recognized seniors: Andrew Gilroy, Ave Mattes and Carter Benson for For their commitment to compete in collegiate sports.

Rugby has been something of a family affair for Andrew Gilroy.  The recent Central Bucks West graduate has been playing rugby ever since his mother signed him up to play when he was 5 years old.

He will continue at Penn State University this fall, major in cyber security. They have an emerging rugby program.

Mattes will continue her softball career at King’s college where she will major in exercise science with her sights on a career in occupational therapy.

“I just really fell in love with the campus of King’s and how tight the community is,” Mattes said. “ When I met the softball team, I just fell in love with them—they were all so nice.”

Benson will continue his baseball career at Misericordia where he will major in sports communication。

“I’ve always wanted to play baseball as long as I can.”Benson said, “I’ve loved playing since I was 4 when I started T-ball.( playing college),

2)Sports activities can enhance physical fitness and are important for a person's growth. Schools should not only focus on students' academic performance. American schools attach great importance to students' physical activities. My high school principal is a master's degree holder in education who studied in the United States, and he places great emphasis on sports. We have to do exercises every morning before class. In high school, I played volleyball. In university , I played basketball. In the first five years of my career, I played table tennis. After that, I stopped playing ball but did exercises every day.
