You all should now watch "On the Beach". 1959 Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire.
Hunt for Red October was the best sub movie after it displaced Das Boat. Then this gem came along
Crimson Tide is one of the top 10 best movies and is smack dab #4. I watched this film in the theater, so let me tell you. It was spectacular. The realism and passion brought by Gene Hackman were exceptional. The intensity brought by Denzel was top-tier.
This made for a theatrical experience akin to Jurassic Park or Gladiator. Thrilling, emotional, and full of edge of your seat action. 5/5 Stars.

58:49 the fact you can understand CLEARLY what each is saying during their exchange while they shout over one another is a sheer testament to the brilliance of the scene and their acting styles.

Movie is loosely based on a real event during the Cuban Missile crisis. Only it happened on a Soviet sub and not an American sub. That is how close we came to nuclear war.
