Planting Stones
I am guilty of uprooting you
from the bottom of forest
at water's edge
where I grew enamored
with time's shape &
the raw smoothness
of soul's endurance
for hours
I immersed myself within
a single body
of the time-worn, water-kissed
stone, so beautifully darkened
by the eternal song
in low light
my excuse
was the love I felt for you
and the flowing light
over your entire being
I could not part
and I knew if I sat long enough by your side
I'd hear more tales
from your soundless telling
and the weighing in
is what I lack
in finding my bearing
to sing the old
truth

Love the meditative quality of this poem. I always think a stone has a spirit in it, no matter how ordinary it looks. Even the tiniest has a much longer life than we are. Sometimes I spend much time on looking at them and listening to them too - - - stories/past recorded and hidden somewhere in them

rc,
that's a very good metaphor...but
stones seem to refuse
to have a "sex" of their own
:)
or,
it embodies both
m & f
...
:))

Men are like stones and women are like water, metaphysically speaking...so can interpret your poem in this way..:))
