Recent Honors

Dr. Chung-wen Shih has devoted her career to the teaching of Chinese language and literature, first at Stanford University, and then at The George Washington University.

She is also an author and documentary filmmaker. Her books on classical Chinese drama, published by Cambridge University Press
and Princeton University Press, are standard reference texts.

Her documentaries on China's modern writers and on the ancient Tang culture have been broadcast nationally on PBS stations, and also on the national Central Television Station in China.

Since retirement from teaching, she has been working on new technology in language acquisition and has recently completed an interactive multimedia CD for college students to learn Chinese.
