女儿挣大钱了！

去年夏天女儿太小，要挣钱还得学校校长批准。今年终于翻过了那个坎，有了自由。这不，通过老爸老妈的关系，去年夏天的的工作今年接着干，但一周才６个小时，一个小时才６块５，哪能让小丫头满意呢？不行，自己找－－可好，又找了两个工作！

昨天干了一上午，回到家，给老爸汇报：“玉米地里帮农学院育种呢。８块５一小时，看，不错吧？”

老爸当然知道大太阳底下干活的辛苦。提醒她要长衣长袖，放晒油，喝多多的水。。。人家还是为了那８块５而兴奋呢。好吧，昨天是培训，今天要干一整天，她会知道点当农民的艰辛的。

早上送女儿上班，就开始了思想教育：“８.５ dollars per hour. That's for illegal immigrants, right? Let's see you work 8 hours a day, you would have roughly 75 dollars. Take tax away, you likely get 50 bucks. Let's assume you work 30 days per month, then you would earn 1500 bucks per month, and 18K per year. Not much, is it?”

“Hey, it's a lot for me.”女儿连忙反驳。

“Ok, let take a look how much a college graduate earn. In my field, the minimal salary is 25K for entry level. If in electric engineering or accounting field, it should be 50-60K, plus benefit from employer. So, a college degree is a good thing to go, right? You better choose your major carefully since there is a big difference between different fields.”

“I know. That's why poor get poorer. What's the tax for?”女儿问老爸。

“Federal tax and state tax are for government spending.”

“I know this, some of the tax is for Iraq war. What about the social security?”

“You learnt from your history book about why it was established, right? A good purpose, but not a good way for investment of your retirement. The money is used to pay retired people, and the rest is invested mainly in government bond--the government gets low-interest loan. So it's not properly invested. And the worst, of course, nobody knows how long it will last. By the time you retire, I am not sure there is any money left. So don't count it.”

“I know. Hopefully I don't have to pay federal tax. 50 bucks a day isok for me now. BTW, I need to get a bike this weekend so I can run betweenn jobs.”

“Then, don;t count yesterday's and today's money--it might be enough for your bike, huh.”

“Don't make me depressed.” 女儿抗议了。
