This Monday was Amy's first teacher conference. Amy has been in Kindergarten for a month. She told me last week that her teacher would have good new for me on Oct 8th, Monday. My time slot was 3:30 pm.
I rode my bike to work and so I could control my time better. It usually takes about 20 minutes to go to her school from my work. During noon time, I wast in my boss's office. We talked about the fundings and the proposals. We need to add one paragraph to the current proposal. At bout 3:00 pm, I told my professor that I have to leave early today because I have the conference with Amy's teacher. He agreed and asked to say Hi to Amy. I took Amy to his office many times and each time he gives Amy a chocolate candy. He give me two chocolate candy, one for me and one for Amy. I rode my bike to Amy's school. It was 3:25pm when I arrived at her school. I went inside the school building and met the librarian at the door of the school library. We greeted each other and she showed me the way to go to Amy's home room. When I got there, I saw her teacher Ms. Harper was talking to another parents. I waited outside for a while, then I went inside the classroom when other couple was finished. I greeted teacher Harper. Teacher told me that Amy is the best student in her class. She told me that she thought Amy is smart when she first met her befor the school started. Amy was very active at that time. Ms. Harper thought that Amy may cause trouble for the class. However, when the school started, Amy is so well-disciplined and she follows orders very well. She is doing what the teacher told her to do and stop doing something when her teacher told her not to do. Her reading is advanced, her math is excellent. Ms. Harper has written a letter for Amy to attend the city's gifted program which usually begins at the second grade. Amy's is an all start student. I am so proud of her.
After I met her home room teacher, I visited other teachers as well. I met her art teacher, music teacher, gym teacher, the librarian, and her science teacher although science class is not open to Kindergarner yet. I talked a lot with her teachers. Sometimes I stutter, sometimes I stuttered a lot. However, I communicate very well with her teachers. I got a lot of information of the school, the curriculum and the classes and teachers. It is a great experience.
