【剧 情】
画家郑板桥（王喜）到杨州寻求发展机会，在那里认识了文人金农（莫家尧）和黄慎（麦包）。板桥以为凭着自己的才情必可扬名立万。然而，际遇一事馍不是板桥所能控制。板桥历康熙（秦沛）、雍正（曾伟权）及乾隆（曹永廉）三朝，虽终能如愿以偿，为国效命，然而腐败的官场，却不是板桥所喜。
仕途崎岖，爱情的道路亦一波三折。板桥初到杨州时邂逅了青楼女子王一姐（黎姿）。板桥本有机会与一姐成亲，却因一姐之母嫌弃其出身，无奈娶了一姐的侍婢徐氏（陈松伶）为妻。除氏对板桥一片苦心，板桥终被感动。板桥高中举人，满心欢喜回乡，徐氏却因救板桥而命危。徐氏临终前力邓板桥另娶下人饶五妹（胡杏儿）。板桥对五妹没半点有意，五妹却一点也不介怀。板桥后被王一姐陷害而惹上麻烦，幸得五妹处处为他奔走。
劳碌大半生，落得一事无成，板桥写下《难得糊涂》四字交给乾隆，然后带着五妹回乡归隐。
