First of all, I would like to begin with my heartfelt thank to all of you who show your interests in my short articles as well as your constructive comments.
Second, I want to introduce a little bite myself in order to clean the air. I have never been in the U.S., neither in Canada. I have come to Western Europe at the age of 13, in 2003 along with my parents. I studied during five years in a local French-speaking Catholic school where the disciplines and rules were strict and severe.
I learnt French as my first foreign language and English as my second foreign language.
The two first years in this school were a really nightmare for me: I was unable to understand, unable to speak. I was the only Chinese girl in my class. And French is a very difficult foreign language for Chinese. The grammar is so complicated and weird.
By the end of last June, I came to Switzerland. I love this small but beautiful country. This country is clean, peaceful, quiet, attractive and rich, very traditional and modern at the same time. The sky is always blue. There are many mountains, rivers, lakes, forests and long tunnels. The culture is diverse and dynamic, with four official languages, German, French, Italian and Roman.
I have been studying English by myself very hard since my high school by watching CNN, watching American TV shows and by writing to my friends.
This forum is my big recent discovery. I am still a newcomer here and I think I will stay here for a long time with a view to exchanging the ideas with you, learning from you, brainstorming with you, passing a fruitful moment with you.
Did I always agree with all of you on every viewpoint in the past? No. Will I in the future? No. Does this matter? No.
What really matters for me, for you, for us, it is to make good friends, to make tangible progress together, to improve our English proficiency as quickly as possible. Therefore, one day in a not-distant future, we will have been able to use English with full confidence as a useful communication vehicle to make China, Chinese people and Chinese culture to be better known by the peoples around the world. At the same time, of course, we can also fulfill our own dreams. And make each of us, a better man, a better woman, a more man, a more woman. Thank you for your attention.
