An investment, no matter what it is, that fits your life style is your best investment.
Some people invest for fear (e.g., of becoming poor after retirement), and some people invest for greed (e.g., of maximizing profit from their every penny). I try to remind myself constantly that nothing is more important than the life itself. What I have and what I feel at this moment are not going to be here forever, enjoy them now. In the meantime, work for something I really love and want it happen in the future.
I have a high paying job, but after debating to myself back and forth for a year I made up my mind that I am going to give it up. I want to focus on RE investment, because its nature of flexible time allow me to enjoy my family time and my kids' activity. That is the most enjoyable thing for me in my current life stage.
