Beijing Airport Office of China Construction Bank
After living in North America for many years, I am used to the convenience of spending with plastics. When visiting China five years ago, I changed some US currency of mine into Chinese Yuan at the Beijing Airport Office of China Construction Bank, and opened an account there. I did enjoy the convenience of paying with a debit card in China.
Three years later, I visited China again. When I was trying to use this card in Harbin, I realized that I forgot the passcode for this card. I went to a local office of this Bank, and I was told that I had six chances to try my password. If not successful, I had to go to the Beijing office where the account was opened. I tried six times, but I could not recover my passcode.
I stopped by the Office at the Beijing Airport where the account was opened, on my way back to North America. I was told that I had to use my original passport to recover the passcode, since I renewed my passport, and the numbers were different. I was told that another method is to get a government proof of my original passport number.
And when I was trying to change some leftover Chinese cash into USD, I was told that I had to show the original receipt when I was getting the USD in China, which I did not keep.
China … Still a different world?!?!?!
