The Sydney Convention Centre, slated for demolition, contains arguably Australia's best collection of large-scale works by some of the nation's most celebrated artists like Brett Whiteley and John Olsen - although almost no-one even knows about them. An involved process will soon be underway to dismantle the huge paintings and store them until a new centre is built. The curator, Stephen Coburn, hopes they will have a new lease of life in their new home, and will get the attention they deserve.
