本片根据黄蛴人长篇小说《将军决战岂止在战场》改编。 这部电影上映于1991年，描述了三大决战之后，在"功德林""改造"国民党军"战犯-"的故事，当时关押在"功德林"的国民党军军官，都是军长、兵团司令之类的人物，其中-最耀眼的，是曾任"徐州剿总"副总司令的杜聿明，他于徐蚌会战（淮海战役）失败后被共-军俘虏。
