February Outing

It has been a dreadful winter
couldn't wait to get out even in the soggy ground
The fairway was so wet and the ball just plugged into the grass
There were ugly shots as usual
and there were fantastic swings to cheer for
like three shots in the back nine from bunker snow
to save par or even bogey were quite a thrill
leaving snow on the club instead of sand
was way cool
Chip-in from 15 feet to a tight pin
was worthy of fist pump and arms up
For drivers to get two drives within 6 feet
and for a hybrid to land two balls
within 3 feet on a par 3 and 40-footer putt both of them
within inches to each other a feet from the hole were all miracles
The best of all was in short sleeves
under the February afternoon sun
even when it was right in my eyes when hitting the shot blindly
and was able to find the ball in surprising good positions
