Run, Search, and Kimchi

Like Sunday, these days Saturdays are gloomy, too;-) It's
warmer than I thought. The old oak tree from the last week
still lied on the trail side.

I thought this run would be a much shorter one when my old
friend, the ITBS, joined me at mile 2. But like in last
Saturday, it didn't get much worse over time. So I kept on
going. I felt more keenly the glutes maximus at work in the
second half of the run as I tried to keep pace. I felt at
ease over the entire course and didn't stop to stretch.

I thought of Chade Meng Tan's book "Search Inside Yourself"
and somehow couldn't help comapring it with the Kimchi video
from Maangchi. I understand what Tan's talking about at an
intellectual level but Maangchi's about doing. As I mature
over time, I don't expect to make spiritual breakthroughs
through reading and coach Vigil (as in Born to Run) would
classify some writings as "Buddha-under-the-lotus-tree"
stuff. The simple dish laden with history, culture, and
pro-health qualities inspires me more. Kimchi is love incarnate.

Overall, I ran 9.6 miles at a pace of 9:03.

Our experiences must be vastly different to shape such different opinions.
And that's OK. God bless.

I don't understand and I don't believe in human equality. equality is a supernatural term from the Euclidean geometry. To inspire is not a purpose per se. To inspire to achieve what?

回复 '无知无为' 的评论 :

I can think of many purposes besides personal health and fitness but
one is enough. I wish to inspire.

If you have loved ones who died or are suffering from modern diseases,
if you have kids to set up a role model for, or if, like me, you
believe in the equality of humans and would like to show the world,
you'd understand.
