Dr. F

How many people have you met in your life who are so passionate about what they are doing? To me, Dr. F is one of them. She is a very interesting person, I have a lot to write about her, but do not know what to start.

She is very famous in her field, I met her before my residency when she went to give a talk at the hospital I worked at.

She interviewed me for my residency. I remember it was late November, she wore a red dress with lots of ribbons on it, like girl scouts. I almost thought she was in the Military.

One of the patients I took care of in ICU is a volunteer in her office over 20 years. Those days she almost came to ICU everyday, and I will update her about patient status. She came in when Mr. H died, that was very early in the morning on a day I have 3 patients dying at same time. Later on I received several emails she sent about Mr. H, asking signatures from residents to thank Mr. H's service. Up to today, almost a year later, Mr. H's picture is still hanging in the window in front her office.

She is a perfectionist and works very hard. She is so organized in her clinic and demands staff and residents follow her instruction exactly. She has the passion for what she is doing and expect residents to do the same thing. Some residents do not like her. For me, she is a great physician, I respect her from bottom of my heart, but I have other interests. I do not want to be forced to do something.

Her husband was chief of Cardiology and retired last year. They have no kids. Dr. F devoted her life to her career. She has two more years left to retire, but we all did not get any impression she wants to retire soon. .

I feel I will have more to write about her later. Maybe make a series about her.
