This evening, Amy attended “Read to Paw” which occurred at the local public library. These paws are service dogs who assistance specifically trained to help people who have disabilities, such as visual impairment, hearing impairments, mental disorders, seizures, mobility impairment, and diabetes. They are very calm, sweet, listen theri master orders.
During the program, kids will read books with dogs and puppies. At the same time, they can socialize with the dog owners as well. When Amy saw the puppies, she was immediately excited. All of her previous anxiety melted away. Happily playing and petting the cute dogs, she felt extremely comfortable and relaxed, even though she was surrounded by strangers. Out of her eyes, she spotted an adorable brown puppy sitting quietly near a shelf of books. She made her way to the dog, and glanced at its nametag. The dog’s name was “Tootsie”. That’s a cute name, Amy thought to herself. The dog’s large brown eyes instantly captivated her, so she decided to read the dog a story. She picked up a picture book from the shelf and started reading to Tootsie. “Once upon a time, there was a pretty little girl named Katie …” Amy read, page by page, gently and nice, just like how mom reads to her every night. “Is that funny Tootsie?” Amy asked Tootsie after she finished reading the whole story. Tootsie wiggled her tail to respond. A few feet away, the dog owner happily watched Amy and Tootsie read stories together. ”how old is Tootsie? ” Amy asked the owner. “She just turns two”. the lady answered. “Who picked up the name for her?” Amy patted Tootsie and asked. “I did, she is so cute and quiet, doesn’t she look like a Tootsie?!” “Yes, indeed!”
