Please note during the whole jump start process, the four clamps are always separated from each other.

Step 1
Take the keys out of your dead car and ensure the ignition switch is not turned to the "On" position.

Step 2
Park the working vehicle beside the dead car and pop both hoods.

Step 3
Find the batteries on both cars. Lift the caps if there are any and expose the positive and negative terminals.

Step 4
Attach a positive jumper cable (this is red or has a "+" sign) to the positive terminal of the dead battery (this is red or has a "+" sign).

Step 5
Attach the other positive jumper cable to the positive terminal of the working car's battery.

Step 6
Attach a negative jumper cable (this is black or has a "-" sign) to the negative terminal of the working car's battery (this is black or has a "-" sign).

Step 7
Attach the other negative jumper cable to a block of metal found somewhere under the hood of the dead car to ground your circuit.

Step 8
Start up the working car and let it run for a few minutes so the dead battery can be charged.

Step 9
Try to start up the dead car. If it is started, leave it on.

Step 10
Turn off the working car.

Step 11
Remove the jumper cables in reverse order.

Step 12
Put the caps on the batteries back and put everything in place.

Step 13
Take a ride with the car that is just jump started to make sure it has enough electricity.
