Empty Chair

Some social media and forums, such as Wechat and Wenxuecity were flooded with celebrations of the 100th birthday of the Chinese Communist Party recently. Those posts reminded me to pay a tribute to Xiaobo Liu who passed away on June 13th, 2017.

Empty chair

An empty chair
Alone
Waiting in a wilderness
On the other side of the mountain
Waves of people
Chanting the preach in one voice
Overwhelming the beckoning of freedom
And the empty chair
Staying with hope
Till the wilderness becomes an ocean
Covered by snow-white lotus

A tribute to Xiaobo Liu, a dissident who fought for democracy in the Communist China and died of liver cancer while serving his jail time. An empty chair was staged at the award ceremony when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. © a day ago, XX   freedom

Jenny Middleton - Your AN add an extra dimension to the poignancy of your imagery XX - and I like how you create a sense of stillness with the phrasing of your lines - isolating some words then creating a contrast with the 'waves of voices' the final image of the lotus is beautiful and very sad. Lovely share.9 hours ago

Jayce6 - Wonderful tribute. You used some good imagery here.
