I don't celebrate Chinese New Year anymore. But it's interesting that the Rabbi in our synagogue always says that what matters to us Jews for holidays is always food. I think Jews are like Chinese. We don't know what else to do but cook some food and eat. I don't even care about cooking food anymore. At my ancient age of 50, I just want to be carefree and relax. I do contribute to the monthly potluck for the Jewish temple, because I'm afraid others might be hungry. I have been determined to convert this year. The temple is a hidden gem in our southern town with a thriving secular Jewish community. Religion is an option but not a must-be. I want both.
