Charles K.Kao, February 1966, Optical fibre pioneer & 2009 Physics Nobel Prize

Optical Fibre - Charles Kao experimenting with the world's first single-mode optical communication fibre, made of glass, at Standard Telecommunication Laboratories (STL), Harlow, England. Charles & George Hockham coauthored the defining paper that started the optical fibre communication revolution ("Dielectric-fibre surface waveguide for optical frequencies", by K.C.Kao & G.A.Hockham, Published in the Proceedings of the IEE).
