talking about making the world a better place and he very quietly put down his
head and said I've tried to himself and I reached forward with both my hands and
put them on his shoulders and I said and Sir you've succeeded Jimmy Carter a peanut farmer turned Navy Submariner Who Rose to the presidency now 100 years old holds another title the longest protective mission of the US Secret Service in Plains Georgia Nicole skanga CBS News an organization former President Carter was very involved with is keeping him in their hearts thousands of volunteers with Habitat for Humanity are building more than 30 homes in St Paul Minnesota this week after leaving the White House the former president spent decades volunteering with the organization building an estimated 4,400 homes alongside 160,000 volunteers Habitat for Humanity CEO says both Carter and his late wife Rosalyn loved helping others in need President Carter's often told me that building with habitat is the best way he knows to put his Christian faith into action in a very tangible way and that he and Mrs Carter always feel like they got more out of the building experience than anything they could put
