Best Value Wine

Compared with the French wines from the old world, Chilean wines have won numerous titles as best value wines from the new world. The top pick of the year in the merlot variety goes to Marques de Casa Concha (2002) by Vina Concha y Toro. This special reserve edition of merlot was created in honor of the title conferred by King Felipe V of Spain to the Concha y Toro family in 1718. It comes in limited edition elaborated with grapes from the Rapel Valley, Chile. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. The intensive aroma, the delicate flavor of plum and cherry and the terroir of Peumo give it its unique characteristics. The wood adds generous chocolate and vanilla notes to this merlot. Great body and perfectly balanced tannin. Love it!
