A few years ago Peter Mayle wrote a book called A Year in Provence/>/>. Mayle, after getting tired of the big shot advertising business, fell in love with the idyllic life of the French countryside. He bought a stone house in Provence/>/>, quit his job and moved to France/>/> with his wife. His book chronicled their first year in Provence/>/> and how their perseverance and good humor carried them through the quirkiness of the French land. The book is full of joy and life, and the inevitable hiccups seemed comical.
Chicago/>/> is not a new country, but it's a part of this country that's new enough to me that makes me feel excited. And the proximity it offers me to my dear EP makes the city that much more appealing.
So in the fashion of Peter Mayle's wonderful book, I want to record what I see and how I feel as my first year in this bustling city unfolds. If nothing else, it will remind me the sensations of being in the center of the legendary gutsy winds for the very first time!
