This is a movie about love and Karma.
I watched the movie several months and was deeply touched by it.
Joel (Jim Carrey) waked up on Valentine's day and went to a lake Montauk where he spent the cold day on the beach.On the train back home, he met a girl Clementine (Kate Winsley) who asked him not to laugh at her name. They fell in love with each other immediately. Actually they are perfectly matched. Joel is shy,sad, quiet and cautious introvert, Clementine is outgoing, impulsive, energetic,flighty and free spirited. The next night Clementine took him to the frozen
It turns out that Clementine had been Joel's girl friend for years and they first met near the beach. They were happy lovers. But as time went by, Joel was not satisfied with Clementine and she also thought Joel was too passive. On one day, Joel went to a video store and found that Clementine treated him like a stranger. He was heart broken and found out that Clementine had her memory of him erased by a new electronic brain procedure after a quarrel with Joel. (Remember she was impulsive). In rage and revenge, he decided to erase the memory too. During the process, all his sweet memory with lovely Clementine was recalled and he suddenly regret his decision. But he was anesthetized and could not speak and move. He managed to open the eyes but was neglected. So, he tried to hide her in the memory where she was not part of it. A piece of memory jumped out and then the image of Clementine suddely disappeared. Joel was panic. I was nervous too as Joel was running away with Clementine from the memory hunter. But the doctor crudely erased all the memory of Clementine and I was so sad at that point.
Hopefully things are not so bad. The next day he woke up and decided to go the lake where he met Clementine again, though both can not remember the relationship. The movie then resumed from the beginning when he waited outside.
Sorry to cut it here just to leave some plots to keep the move a little mysterious!
I like the title of the movie. Do you remember English Patient? The good feelings of love are just rooted deeply in your heart and are like eternal sunshine that will light up the darkness in a spotless mind. Being in love once is a happy thing though we all hope that the result be good,especially when the two are so matched with each other.
BTW, I used to not appreciated Kate Winsley much, but from this movie, I began to like her. And she is really very nature and smart and looks like Meryl Streep. Jim Carrey is alway my favorite and I hope he will become a great actor like Robin Williams.
