This is an original Chinese chess table set in the pavement of an old house. Chinese chess is known to be of the oldest games in the world and probably the origin for the Western chess. Many times we still can see in any place in China - no matter village or big cities - people around a group of chess players showing their strategic knowledge. Being playes preferently in public parks where they can find a table in the shadow of a tree, when such is not available the floor can work too.
This one is simply too big to be portable, and due to its location even a bit hard to play (as we may see in the photo, it is surrounded by walls in 3 of its sides).
However, kids found a new way of playing it, as crossing stones over a river.
