is brown sugar healthier than white sugar?

No. Brown sugar may look more wholesome, but it's simply white sugar with molasses added for color and flavor. Though molasses contain some nutrients like iron, pottassium, and calcium, the amount in brown sugar is too tiny to make any difference---you would have to eat more than two cups of brown sugar to get the calcium in a glass of milk. Teaspoon for teaspoon, white sugar and brown one have about 16 calories.
