A Retell of the Story: Lone Bird and the Moon

Long ago, the Chippewa tribe lived on the shores of Lake Superior. Lone Bird was the daughter of Dawn of Dayand She Eagle. Many people wanted to marry Lone Bird. Dawn of Day then decided to make a race, whoeverwon the race would marry Lone Bird, but two people would always finish side by side. Lone Bird was delightedbecause she didn't want to get married. One night, she looked at the moon and whispered, "I would not feel lonelyif I had you to love." The Good Spirit heard her and lifted her up to the moon. When Dawn of Day returned homethat night. he looked for his daughter but was nowhere to be found. Dawn of Dawy and She Eagle hurried to thehill she often sat, they called to the Good Spirit and looked at the moon. At first they couldn't believe their eyes,but clearly saw their daughter on the moon smiling at them. At the next full moon you can see Lone Bird's face for yourself!2009年11月30日
