Songs My Mother Taught Me is the title of a song by Antonín Dvořák which forms part of his Gypsy Songs cycle, (Cigánské melodie, B. 104/4, Op. 55/4), written for voice and piano in 1880. They are set to poems by Adolf Heyduk in German. Fritz Kreisler transcribed the song for violin and piano and performed it frequently. It was first published in 1914.
Antonín Leopold Dvořák was a Czech composer of Romantic music, who employed the idioms and melodies of the folk music of Moravia and his native Bohemia. His works include operas, symphonic, choral and chamber music.
