Swimming has never been my favorite sport or exercise. In my middle school years, to prove I had the basic survival skill in water, I once swam for two hours non-stop in a regular swimming pool and later tested my maximum endurance in a river. Those were done only with breast stroke and I had never been able to do freestyle for more than a few laps without rest.
After my recent right shoulder surgery, I started using freestyle swimming as one of my recovery exercises. Increasing distance little by little, day by day, to my big surprise last night, for the first time ever I was able to swam twenty laps non-stop (a 25-yard pool).
Love to be a rival of myself decades ago. :)
