Dear Chairman Hu, I am writing this letter to you because I would like to talk about the washroom situation in China.
On my last trip to China, ( I'm from Canada ) I was very disappointed with the washrooms of everywhere except the Forbidden City.
I would just like to say that you should take into consideration of changing the "squat toilets" into more modern toilets.
Not everybody knows how to use the "squat toilets". ( Including me ) I think foreigners aren't used to such unsanitary conditions of toilets. Old people might have weaker bones than young people, and they might have arthritis which makes it harder for them to use the toilets. I think you should at least put one or two modern toilets in the washrooms all across China.
It is very unsanitary, and when I went to visit Shandong, the toilets were extremely filthy and disgusting that I thought I might never want to go back there again.
I feel the toilets are leaving a bad impression that the Chinese don't care about health and sanitation. People could get sick or come down with a desease or some other type of illness.( Especially foreigners who are not used to such conditions )
Furthermore, I would like to say that the health department of China should know about this and try to do something about it. In conclusion, I would like to remind you to take this "problem" into consideration. Thank you Sincerely, Monica
