基金新闻:王氏中心赞助的纪录片入选西雅图社会正义电影节

太平洋路德大学媒体实验室的同学们制作的纪录片,“面纱与炸弹之外:美国的反穆斯林情绪”(2012),最近入选西雅图社会正义电影节。这部电影将于10月12日在Pike Place Market剧院正式放映。该电影的制作是在王氏中心的赞助下完成的。详情请看以下英文报道。
王氏中心是在王成钊与罗惠芳博士慷慨捐赠下成立的,他们后来又成立了王氏基金,来促进中美青年间的交流与合作。
 
MEDIALAB DOCUMENTARY @ SEATTLE SOCIAL JUSTICE FILM FESTIVAL OCT. 12
“Beyond Burkas and Bombers: Anti-Muslim Sentiment in America,” a documentary produced by MediaLab students in 2012, has been named an official selection of the Seattle Social Justice Film Festival. The MediaLab documentary will be shown at 4 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Pike Place Market Theater.
PLU student producers JuliAnne Rose, ’13 and Andrea Capere,’14 will be on hand for the documentary screening. The production team also included Heather Perry, ’13.
"We are very excited that 'Beyond Burkas and Bombers' has this opportunity to reach a wider audience,” Rose said. “And we are even more excited that our message gets to be part of the a greater movement to promote global equality and tolerance."
MediaLab is a student/faculty research project at PLU whereby talented students from across the university participate in various pre-professional experiences.“Beyond Burkas and Bombers: Anti-Muslim Sentiment in America” highlights the life of two Muslim students at PLU. The documentary was funded in part by a grant for the Wang Center for Global Education..
The Social Justice Film festival takes places from Oct.10-13 at various theaters throughout Seattle. The highlight of the festival will be a showing of “Books to Prisoners” for its 40th Anniversary on opening night with a keynote address by Sister Helen Prejean. In addition there will be a premiere of “Tula The Revolt” followed by a question and answer segment with Danny Glover.
