Canadian Rockies (6) - Jasper National Park

Today was another cold, rainy and cloudy day. We drove to Maligne Lake, stopped at Maligne Canyon first. No good photos today, but we did have an amazing bear encounter.

1. Maligne Canyon.

2. Maligne Lake. After taking this picture from a bridge, we turned right, was going to walk back to the parking lot, and walk a trail or something, until the only other couple on the bridge said: "guys, do you want to see a bear?"

3. We turned around, and saw this amazing sight. A black bear came down the hill and decided to cross the river using the bridge. Since the four of us was standing on one side of the bridge, it paused for a second, and decided to use the other side.

4. The bear was at most 30 feet away from us, and it was jogging at a decent speed, and it made no sound whatsoever!

5. After crossing the river, it quickly ran up a hill.

6. Bear prints.

7. Bear print.

8. Two young elk eating along the highway.

9. The same elk we saw yesterday walking along Icefield Parkway, and making mating calls.
