亦冲亦潜,顺势随缘。潜水有潜水的理由,冲浪有冲浪的原因。

"The essence of life is to struggle gracefully." I said to my Program Manager, while we were waiting for the other attendees of a slow meeting to show up, "As summarized in the Peter Principle, everyone successful in one thing tends to attempt the next, more difficult thing, until he eventually fails. Therefore, the key to avoid such failure is to find out one's limitations and operate around there, not beyond. In other words, you want to struggle gracefully with good efforts, but not fail."

"I completely agree with you." She replied gracefully, "That is exactly why I consider arrogance the eleventh sin - well, you know, there are these Ten Commandments in the Bible, condemning the ten sins. Arrogance, in my opinion, is the eleventh sin, which brings stupidity and many other bad things. You can see that, after some people have enjoyed success for a while, they become arrogant, and that is not good."

I guess I am very lucky to have a Program Manager with whom I can also discuss abstract topics away from the project we are working on.
