一个单词

我正在读丹尼尔-理薄尔曼的《人体的故事》(2013)。学了一个词, palliative。
在此与大家分享。原文

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the original
meaning of the word “palliative” (first used in the fifteenth
century) was to refer to care that “relieves the symptoms of a
disease or condition without dealing with the underlying
cause.”

大意就是治标不治本。

I read this book around the same time as you. I also read Sitting Kills, Moving Heals by Joan Vernikos.

According to Lieberman, standing for eight hours a day burns about 160 calories, which is equivalent to half an hour of walking. This can make a significant difference over weeks and years.
