Pedram Couture to close out Fashion Week New Orleans

Designed for Success: Pedram Couture to close out Fashion Week New Orleans

The saying ‘Save the Best for Last’ holds true for the designer who will close out Fashion Week New Orleans Friday evening. Pedram Pasha Taheri has had a whirlwind year of success since he debuted last year. WGNO reporter Deepak Saini shows why the sky is the limit for the local rising star.

The bead-work, embroidery, bold and rich colors, it’s all in the details.

“We’re talking about days and weeks of work, someone sitting there beading this individually, it really takes a lot of time,” says designer Pedram Pasha Taheri.

Perhaps that’s why Pedram achieved overnight success when he debuted Pedram Couture at Fashion Week New Orleans last year. Since then, he’s become one of the most in-demand local designers.

“It’s been crazy. It’s been a rush. I sit back and think about it. Wow, it’s been so quick,” says Taheri.

Whether its New Orleans, New York or Los Angeles, Pedram has shown the world that New Orleans is more than just Jazz and beignets.

“I’m excited about the growth of fashion here in New Orleans. It’s definitely happening the past few years,” says Taheri.

He’s constantly back and fourth between his flagship studio in Baton Rouge and a newly opened one in New Orleans. Make-up artists like Erin Noelle and his models accompany his every move. Pedram’s gowns are original and often influenced by his heritage.

“It’s a little bit middle-eastern inspired, a little bit Persian. I wanted to bring that into this collection,” says Taheri.

Gold is his signature but the young designer is branching out with red in his new collection.

“It’s a fierce color so I did a lot of red, black and gold as my accents,” says Taheri.

More and more celebrities want to be wrapped in a Pedram Couture gown like singer Christina Milian. He’s also dressed the wives of Saints players. Reality-TV stars like Gretchen Rossi and Asifa Mirza are just some of the celebs adding to Pedram’s star-power, so much so, that his own reality show is in the works.

“I can’t talk about it much but time will tell,” says Taheri.
