EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Eskimos have had some dynamic receiving duos throughout the franchises history, and theyre hoping another is developing this year.Wholesale Jerseys China . Veteran slotbacks Fred Stamps and Adarius Bowman have shown they can be the one-two punch -- like Brian Kelly and Tom Scott in the 1980s or Ed Hervey and Terry Vaughn in the early 2000s -- that gives opposing CFL defences more trouble than they can handle a if they can stay healthy. In the Eskimos season-opening 27-20 win in Vancouver last weekend, Bowman had nine catches for 105 yards and the heavily guarded Stamps four for 40 yards. Both caught crucial touchdown passes. The Eskimos may never have another duo like Kelly and Scott, who terrorized CFL defences the five years they were together in Edmonton and were key players in the Eskimos five straight Grey Cup victories. But with the Eskimos preparing for their home opener tonight versus Hamilton, both Stamps and Bowman were anxious to establish themselves as a pair to be reckoned with. "Im going into my fourth year with Fred now and I think we go at each other, tandem with each other, so teams cant do double team and triple team on him when you have guys like me and Shamawd (Chambers) making plays," said Bowman. "So if everybody continues to do their roles and I continue to make my plays when they come, Freds going to do his thing." Last year, in 16 games, Stamps "thing" was 68 receptions for a CFL leading 1,259 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bowman played only the final nine games and had an impressive 44 catches for 697 yards and five TDs. The only season the two have played together for more than half a season was 2011 when they both played 15 games. Stamps had 82 catches for 1,153 yards and eight TDs while Bowman chipped in with 62 catches, an identical 1,153 yards and four TDs. The thought of both of them being healthy all season has them, along with quarterback Mike Reilly and the Eskimos offence, salivating. "Man, the skys the limit," Stamps, who has had five straight seasons of more than 1,000 reception yards, said of the pairs potential. "Its exciting to see something like that. Its big to have him back, healthy again. As the season goes on were going to get stronger and stronger." Reilly said the Stamps-Bowman duo gives defences multiple things to worry about on every play. "With them being on separate sides of the field it gives defences lots to think about," he said. "You cant push coverage to one side or the other because youre going to get exposed." One of the big questions with Stamps and Bowman is their health. Stamps, who will likely finish his career in the top two or three of virtually every Eskimo receiving statistical category, has played a full season only twice in his seven years in the league while Bowman has yet to get through an entire schedule in six years. "It feels good," Bowman said of his health after a leg injury kept him out of 25 games the last two seasons. "I had that little thought in my head last year when I came back, its not like theres total confidence about every step, plant and breaking and everything Im doing." After finishing last season and starting this one strong, that no longer appears to be a concern. The win in B.C., while it wasnt a particularly strong showing by the offence that simply made too many mistakes in the first half, was important for the confidence of both the team and Bowman. "For my confidence it was great," said the 6-3, 210-pound Bowman, adding the new offence installed by the new coaching staff is much better than last years. "Its better in terms of schemes, things that we can go into games with. I felt like we only used a small portion of what we have. When we can get to what we have, were going to be a better offence." Wholesale Jerseys From China . First reported by FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal, its unknown if the impetus for the deferral proposal came from players or management, but it never left the preliminary stages. Jerseys Wholesale . Harrison combined with four relievers on a five-hitter to get his first victory since September 2012, in his first home start since April 2013, and the Rangers won 5-0 Thursday night after being overwhelmed by the Rockies the previous three games.QUEBEC - The Montreal Canadiens saved their best for last after a lacklustre pre-season, downing the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1 on Saturday in their final exhibition game. The game was played before a sellout crowd in Quebec City as part of an annual ritual where the Habs play a pre-season contest in the provincial capital. The Canadiens lopsided victory came on the tail end of an exhibition schedule in which they won only one of their seven previous games and were drubbed 4-0 by Tampa earlier in the week. Brian Gionta and Scott Gomez each scored and led the Habs on numerous rushes, while Mathieu Darche, Erik Cole and Michael Cammalleri had the other Montreal goals. Gionta, calling it 60 solid minutes of play, said Saturdays effort was far greater than the one put up by the team two nights earlier. The Canadiens outshot their Tampa Bay 32-19, while the Lightnings lone goal came from Vincent Lecavalier. The damage for Tampa Bay could conceivably extend into the regular season. Forward Ryan Malone was thrown out of the game for a bodycheck to the head of Chris Campoli while the Habs defenceman was exiting his zone. Malone now risks being the latest NHLer to face discipline as the league cracks down on head shots. Campoli was forced to leave the game amid fears he suffered a concussion. It was only his second game since signing with the Canadiens. Montreal defenceman Hal Gill said the hit was a clear head shot -- one seen far too often in the league and the kind that has been getting considerable attention lately. Malone defended himself. He said he was approaching Campoli to finish a body check and that the defenceman unexpectedly leaned forward. He said it wasnt his intenttion to hit his head, adding it was the first time he had been involved in such an incident. Wholesale Jerseys. The Habs now head to Collingwood, Ont., in preparation for the regular-season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. Saturday was the first time this fall that the Canadiens fielded a team resembling their regular lineup and the contrast from recent games was unmistakable. Not only was the final score a reversal from the previous Montreal-Tampa contest, but so was the overall flow of the game. The Canadiens power play opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at 9:59 of the opening period when Gionta intercepted a Steven Stamkos pass and waltzed in alone to deke Lightning goalie Mathieu Garon between his legs. It was during that period that Malone nearly came to blows with the Habs P.K. Subban. Gill stepped in to defend his younger teammate and pinned Malone to the ice. The Lightning forward drew the extra penalty. The Habs outshot Tampa 15-9 in the second. Gomez scored a bizarre power-play goal at 2:19 into the period when -- with two Lightning players in front of him -- he bounced a dribbler over Garons pads. Lecavalier narrowed the gap just over a minute later, when he used his considerable reach to shovel in a centring pass from Teddy Purcell past goalie Carey Price. Darche restored the Canadiens two-goal lead at 5:39 of the period with a tip-in off a shot from defenceman Jaroslav Spacek. Cole stole the puck off Lightning defenceman Brett Clark and scored on a top-shelf wrist shot to widen the gap less than three minutes later. It was a quieter third period, save for the controversy involving Malone and Cammalleri rounding out the scoring. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '
