昨天发表了评估的第一章,有人抱怨没提到民选的老印州长。不错老印是有两个州长,分别是南卡和路易斯安娜,但这两个州的人口都属于中等(排25左右),跟骆家辉的华盛顿州少差不多一倍。越大的州,竞选的难度越大,加州华人不少,到目前还没有华人州长。老印是开始在政坛活跃,但不如老中如鱼得水。
没错,总统内阁成员是总统提名国会通过的,但总统为啥偏偏没提名你老印呢?难道这里面没有什么问题吗?思考一下吧。
今天谈谈老印老中在美国的体育,指的是职业的,业余的不谈,没意思。
前一章说过,老印大部分是靠留学移民的,其中书呆子居多,手无缚鸡的力量,鲜有四肢发达头脑简单的汉子,这必然会影响他们的体育成绩。其实印度本国也一样,除了曲棍球(过去还有羽毛球,比如名将普拉卡什)其他项目都一塌糊涂,惨不忍睹,那才是名副其实的东亚病夫。相比之下,共产中国学苏联那套,大搞业余体校,为党为国增光,典型的国家办体育。就连狗肉节的广西玉林也居然能出现了乒坛世界冠军梁戈亮。民主的印度整天在争吵不休,口水漫天飞,雷声大,雨点小,做不成事。我个人还认为,印度的钱不是给贪污了,就是去搞面子工程航母等项目。更重要的原因也许跟人种有关。黑人,除了游泳以外,毫无疑问是体育大拿。前天看了北京的世界田径锦标赛男子百米决赛,一个亚裔都没有,牙买加的博尔特再次夺冠。广东矮脚虎苏炳添在预赛曾领先博尔特,但人家稍微发力就轻松地将苏甩在后面。博尔特高大,腿长,爆发力了得,苏根本不是对手,苏在亚洲也许还能折腾一番。我校俄州大的著名田径名将,黑人杰西欧文斯当年在德国柏林的奥林匹克中拿了好几块金牌。美国田径的最高奖就是杰西欧文斯奖。作为他的校友,我感到非常自豪。今天,美国校级橄榄球排名出榜,我校俄州大又是第一。ESPN有评论说,OSU二线替补都能拿冠军,可见实力是多么地雄厚。在美国,当你没事可做的时候,应该问问自己,是否读错学校了。
回到老印。老印体育落后还有一个不大被人知道的秘密,活儿较小。据调查,老中世界排名108,老印是112,朝鲜最短。力气跟活儿有一定的关系。据不完全统计,黑人的最长,其次白人。也许将来体校招生应该先看看活儿长短才行。
我80年代末来美,那时几乎没有华人参加体育职业。最近这些年来,美三大球类到处都有华人,比如篮球有姚明,林书豪。棒球来自台湾的就更多了。美式橄榄球还非常少。夏威夷的四分卫Timmy Chang是破了不少大学生记录,可惜职业生涯并不顺利。张培德拿过法国网球公开赛冠军。印度人哪去了?你听说过有在三大球打球的印度人吗?《百万美元胳膊》的选手最后还是回到印度,进职业不那么容易的。
最后让大家看看名单,我敢担保,你认识不了几个印度运动员,我一个也没听说过,而老中的几乎都是美国家喻户晓的名人。总的来说,亚裔的体育不管老中老印还是不行。
