Halloween happenings planned across Richmond County

Besides the usual door-to-door trick-or-treating, towns throughout Richmond County will have several events going on this year to celebrate Halloween.

CHURCH FALL FESTIVALS

Freedom Baptist Church on U.S. 1 North in Rockingham will have its fall festival featuring a trunk-or-treat and carnival activities from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

McDonald Baptist Church in Rockingham will also hold its fall festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and it will feature hot dogs, two bounce houses and carnival-style games.

GET YOUR WITCHES’ BREW

PruittHealth of Rockingham, 804 S. Long Drive, will hold its annual fall festival from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. All children are asked to come in their favorite costumes. There will be games and treats for all ages.

Tickets for games will be 25 cents. Dinner will consist of barbecue sandwiches, chip and a special witches’ brew for $3.

BROOMSTICKS, BATS AND BOOKS

Leath Memorial Library in downtown Rockingham will host a Halloween trick-or-treat event from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday inside the library.

There will be bags of candy and prizes available for those who dress up in costume.

CHURCH TRUNK-OR-TREAT

First Baptist Church of Hamlet, 208 Charlotte St., next to Piggly Wiggly, will have a trunk-or-treat from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

CARNIVAL FOR ALL

PG Finest will host a Halloween carnival and trunk of treats from 5 to 8 p.m. on Halloween day at Falling Creek Gym in Rockingham.

The event is free to the public and will feature games, prizes, food and fun.

CITY TRUNK-OR-TREAT

The city of Rockingham will host its annual trunk-or-treat form 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Browder Park. There will be a Halloween fun house, candy, police cars and fire trucks.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and must be dressed to participate.

‘I CAN’ BE SCARED

Discovery Place Kids will celebrate Halloween with a day of silly spooks and giggly ghosts starting at 11 a.m. on Halloween day.

As part of the “I Can Be Healthy” program, guests will get to enjoy alternative trick-or-treating around DPK for festive novelties and fun with face-painting, crafts and science experiments. All activities are included with museum admission.
