Skowhegan fashion model is Maine’s Jetset Magazine finalist

A local fashion model who was the state’s runnerup last year for a national $100,000 prize and to be featured on the cover of Jetset Magazine tried again this year and won top model in Maine.

From here, Madeline Dalon, known as Madeline Jonelle in the fashion world, is in a race at the nationals where she is competing as the Maine winner in online voting for the big prize.

By being voted winner in Maine, Dalon, a stay-at-home mom whose boyfriend works as a stitcher at the New Balance shoe factory in Skowhegan, already is assured of her photo appearing in the magazine.

“The nationals are really competitive. I’m going against 60 girls worldwide,” she said. “We’re all fighting really hard for the title.”

Madeline Dalon, of Skowhegan, known as Madeline Jonelle in the fashion world, has been named Maine's top model in an online competition for Jetset Magazine. She is a finalist in a chance to win $100,000 and be featured on the magazine's cover. Online voting ends Wednesday at midnight.

Online donations to Dalon’s efforts are in part going to the Be Positive Foundation to help families dealing with childhood cancer.

Last year there were 50 original contestants in the competition in Maine, and Dalon was runner up.

This year there were 40 women competing for the Maine title and she won, she said. The national winner is to be announced Aug. 18.

Jetset Magazine is an affluent lifestyle print and online publication with a targeted readership of the nation’s wealthiest people, according to the publication’s Facebook page. The magazine “defines luxury with latest trends in finance, real estate, golf, travel, fashion, watches, private aviation, boating, luxury autos,” the company says.

Previous cover models have included Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez, Dalon said.

“This year I was very determined to win because I was so, so close to winning last year,” Dalon said. “I definitely had more supporters this year and that really helps out a lot.”

Dalon said all of the photos have been shot, so being five months pregnant with twins with a bit of a baby bump showing won’t have an impact on the competition.

“I am beyond myself — I’m so excited,” she said. “I really fought so hard for that title and the grand prize. I just basically have to network, network, network.”
