牛娃不带眼镜不驼背不佝偻腰,不像一个学习特别好的孩子。
(二)孩子在学校里面,和 Counselor 谈有关选大学的事情。
“What is your plan, or what was in your mind, darling?”
“Some Ivy's, may be Yale or Harvard? ”
“Well,mmmm, based on mmmm , do you think that you should consider some State Universities, you can even start with community college, may be a couple of better school such as UCI, UCR ? ”
“Nop”
“Whatever ......”Counselor 很无奈。
(三)闺女和她已经进了USC的网球小朋友谈有关上大学的事情。
“Where do you want to go?”
“Ivy's, may be Yale or Harvard ?”
“Geeee, what is your GPR? ”
“ 4 point something ......”
“Wow,wow, wow .....”
她们只知道牛娃网球打的好,不知道牛娃学习更好。
(四)孩子在UCSD 的实验室里实习,很多东西对她都是陌生的,换句话说,所有的东西都需要从头学起,从一点一滴做起。实验室里有研究生或者是博士后鼓励她:“just keep trying, you will be great. ”
“Which College are you in? ”博士后问牛娃。
“Not in college yet, I am still a high schooler, jonior . ”
“Well, great, you may try to apply for UCSD.”博士后鼓励牛娃。
“Nop.”
“Don't be shy, UCSD is a very good university, you may have a chance if you apply for, just give yourself some confident. ”博士后继续鼓励。
“Not UCSD, but I have alreay committed to college. ”
“Committed already ? where ?”
“Harvard.”
“ ..... ”
实验室里所有的人都看着这个腼腆的小姑娘。
(五)孩子上化学课,老师很健谈经常是没话找话,老师在教室门口遇到牛娃。
“Good morning, kid, I like your Harvard T-shirt .”
“Thank you teacher, I am going there. ”
“You are going to Harvard? Are you kidding? ”
“No,I am not kidding, I have already committed to Harvard. ”
“ ......, ...... ”
牛娃的推荐信之一是这位化学老师给写的,而另一封推荐信是那位建议牛娃先尝试 Community College 的 Councelor 写的,还有一封推荐信是牛娃的学英国文学专业的网球教练写的,推荐信中用了很多生僻的古英文词儿。
