Disappointing winter sowing

It has been very cold this winter.  All the seeds sowed are not doing well at all. The ones that emerged are broad beans, a tray of peas, spring onions and spinach, The chillies did come up last week but they looked yellow and thin battling with freezing weather.  Mice or squireals got some of the peas and broad beans digging a channel under the green house.  Obviously they are hungry in their desperate need to find foods. Pak choi and lettuce performed badly this year, only 20% or so showed up.  Last year they were lush and provided many baby leaves.

I bought a package of sweetcorn seeds on Tuesday.  Perhaps I will try to grow them again this year.  Foxes destroyed all of sweet corn crop 2019, so none were grown last year.  I think I will use one of the green houses to grow them this year or build an enclosure to grow them.

14 Feb is tomato sowing date.  3 types of tomatoes to go in, cherry, plum and black brandywine.  Just wish some good sunny days to come!
