Pulsed Wave Doppler: Parasternal Short Axis View Pulmonary Artery

Sample Volume:  In the Right Ventricular Inflow Tract (RVIT) Normal Flow:  Primarily diastolic Abnormal Finding:  Increased diastolic flow velocity and spectral broadening due to tricuspid  stenosis.

Sample Volume:  In the Right Atrium (RA) Normal Flow:  Diastolic Abnormal Finding:  High velocity retrograde systolic flow and spectral broadening due to tricuspid  regurgitation.

Sample Volume:     In the Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT) Normal Flow:     Systolic Abnormal Findings: Increased systolic flow velocity and spectral broadening due to a subpulmonic stenosis, or to a ventricular septal defect. High velocity retrograde diastolic flow and spectral broadening due to pulmonic insufficiency.

Sample Volume:     In the Pulmonary Artery (PA) Normal Flow:     Systolic Abnormal Findings: High systolic flow velocity and spectral broadening due to a pulmonic or subpulmonic stenosis. Continuous (systollic and diastolic) nonlaminar flow due to a patent ductus arteriosus.
